Lok Sabha Elections 2024 LIVE: RJD to contest 26 seats, Mukesh Sahni joins Bihar's grand alliance

The Congress party released its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi on Friday.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and other leaders were seen unveiling the party manifesto titled Nyay Patra.

The party's election manifesto focuses on 'Paanch Nyay' or five pillars of justice, including 'Yuva Nyay', 'Naari Nyay', 'Kisaan Nyay', 'Shramik Nyay' and 'Hissedari Nyay' as well as the guarantees made by it to the people as part of its poll promises for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

'Work done in 10 yrs is like an appetizer, main course yet to come': PM Modi in Rajasthan Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the works done by his government at the Centre in the last ten years are like a 'trailer' as there is more to come in the future.

Addressing a rally in Rajasthan's Churu, the PM said that the country has witnessed a change in the last ten years of his government.

"I want to tell you that all we've done (developments work) till now, is just a trailer. These days, when we go to big hotels to eat food, they first bring a few appetizers...so what Modi has done (till now) is an appetizer and the main course is yet to come. We have to take the country forward... In the last 10 years, you have seen the country change. Before that, the country was in a very bad condition," the PM said.

The PM was campaigning for paralympic gold medalist Devendra Jhajharia who will represent the BJP in the Churu Lok Sabha seat in place of two-time MP Rahul Kaswan.

Congress party has promised to conduct a nation-wide Socio-Economic and Caste Census to enumerate the castes and sub-castes and their socio-economic conditions. To put a curb on rampant defections, the Congress has promised to amend the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution and make defection (leaving the original party on which the MLA or MP was elected) an automatic disqualification of the membership in the Assembly or Parliament.

The Election Commission Friday issued a show-cause notice to Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi, asking her to back with facts her statement that the BJP approached her to join the party.

The BJP moved the commission earlier against her claim that the party reached out to her through someone close and asked her to join it.

The notice issued by the Election Commission read, "...You are a minister in the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi and leader of a national party. The electors tend to believe whatever is being said from public forum by their leaders and in that sense the statements made by them affect the campaign discourse."

Congress Party in its manifesto says that the party will conduct a nationwide Socio-Economic and Caste Census to enumerate the castes and sub-castes and their socio-economic conditions and it will pass a constitutional amendment to raise the 50 per cent cap on reservations for SC, ST and OBC.

Home voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan is set to start from today. More than 58,000 voters in Rajasthan have opted for home voting of which 35,542 people have registered for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, state's chief electoral officer Praveen Gupta said.
