Apple users complain of phone battery draining out in its iOS 11.4 updateJune 13 (AZINS) Users of the iPhone have faced a lot of trouble after the software update to 11.4, GSM Arena reported.

While the update includes several new features, battery life seems to have been a major factor that has affected the phone.

A large number of those who updated their devices to iOS 11.4 are complaining about rapid battery drain.

There are several threads discussing the problem on Apple's official forum, and on one of these threads, close to a thousand users have confirmed the issue with their unit.

The problem seems to be independent of the iPhone model being used. As for workarounds, switching off the Wi-Fi worked in some cases, while connecting to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (instead of 5GHz) did the trick in others.

However, several other users said none of these worked for them, so many of them rolled back to iOS 11.3.1 which made the battery life normal again.

For its part, Apple hasn't yet offered any official word on the matter, but the problem will be rectified soon, we hope.

Apple faced a backlash late last year when it emerged that the company slowed down some older iPhones with flagging batteries. Apple also showed new features including parental controls to limit the time children spend in apps, as well as which apps they can use. Apple also rolled out group video chat sessions with up to 32 users, putting it in direct competition with companies such as Cisco Systems Inc and Microsoft Corp's Skype.
