Sonam Kapoor goes on a Twitter detox after she gets bullied for calling a user 'harasser'Oct 6 (AZINS) Sonam Kapoor Ahuja on Saturday announced that she has decided to take a break from micro-blogging website Twitter. The 'Veere Di Wedding' star, in a cryptic post, revealed, she is going off Twitter for some time. However, without giving any specific reason, Sonam simply said she is doing so because the platform is "just too negative."

"I'm going off twitter for a while. It's just too negative. Peace and love to all!" read the tweet.

This comes after the actor received backlash for calling a Twitter user 'harasser'. Responding to one of Sonam's social media post - in which she had slammed the condition of roads in Mumbai - the user had criticised her for not using public transport.

"@sonamakapoor It's because of people like you who don't use public transport or less fuel consumption vehicles. You know that your luxury car gives 3 or 4 km per litre mileage and 10 /20 AC's in your house are equally responsible for global warming. First control your pollution (sic)," the user had tweeted.

Sonam had then called him out and posted, "And it's because of men like you that women find it difficult to use public transport for fear of being harassed."

It was then that the 'Sanju' star received backlash for her choice of words. "I can take you to the court for this coz I still believe in constitution. N I am not a judge without a degree like you. Shame shame shame shame (sic)," he had replied.

Other users were quick to join in and call out Sonam for playing a 'victim', while a few said they very well know how to respect women. The 'Padman' actor, who joined the platform in 2009, has been an avid Twitter user with over 12 million followers. From movies to music and style, Sonam's Twitter feed is surely full of variety.

Last year, Sonam Kapoor had urged her fans and followers on Twitter to stop making celebrities a target of online trolls. "I request my followers and fans not to hate on someone and get personal towards other celebrities. Be better than that," Sonam earlier tweeted.

Sonam Kapoor in an earlier interview to news agency IANS had said: "Nothing will ever stop me from expressing what I think is right or wrong and I don't think it should stop anybody whether they are celebrity or not. I do not bow down to cyber bullying or even from the media who gets too harsh with people for expressing their opinion or saying something. I think it's important to always say what you feel is right and think what you think is right."
