Nov 10 (AZINS) Recently, the younger daughter of veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan and sister of Shruti Haasan, actress Akshara Haasan was in news for a disturbing reason.

The actress, who made her debut with Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush in Shamitabh, had become the latest victim of cyber-crime, and was making it to the headlines because of a reported case of hacking wherein her intimate photos were leaked on social media.

The disgraceful act of sharing and commenting on the pictures of the actress in her lingerie has given rise to serious breach of privacy.

The pictures are being peddled with hashtags that are alarming and all over the place.   

After staying mum for a while now, Akshara has finally broken her silence over the issue.

The starlet took to her Twitter handle and issued a statement which reads, "It’s particularly disturbing and deeply upsetting to see that at a time when the nation has woken up to the #metoo movement, there are still people out there who would harass and attempt to share private pictures of a young girl in the public eye only to derive some perverse pleasure that appeals only to them."

She also revealed how the instance has scarred her internally.

"Recently, some of my private pictures were leaked on the Internet. Who did this or why is not known to me yet. But what I do know that it is deeply unfortunate to make a young girl the victim of such an act only for a pervert mind’s enjoyment. And each time someone shares it with eye-catching headlines to draw more traction, it scars me deeper and adds to everyone’s participation in my harassment and helplessness," her tweet further read.

Akshara Haasan also mentioned it clearly that she has reached out to the Mumbai police and the cyber cell so that those behind the hack are brought to the books.

"I have reached out to the Mumbai police and the cyber cell to seek their help in tracking the person/s responsible for this leak and hope to get to the bottom of this soon. Till then, I can only request that we all learn to live and let live with dignity and privacy and hope that the internet won’t continue actively participating in my harassment. #metoo," she added.

We too hope the matter is brought to books and the hacker is severely punished.
