He is currently in the news for the shooting of his upcoming film RRR. In an exciting update, Tamil actor-filmmaker Samuthirakani has joined the star-cast of this film. RRR features Junior NTR and Ram Charan in lead roles.

Speaking to a Tamil magazine, Samuthirakani said, "After watching my film Nadodigal, Rajamouli sir had sent me a long message. We have been in touch since then. Recently, he invited me to his house to introduce me to his family. He wanted me to play a key role in his upcoming film starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan. I agreed instantly."

Interestingly, the Tamil actor-filmmaker has always been connected to Telugu cinema but never worked in it. He has dubbed films in Telugu and is popular among the Telugu audience for his films like Raghuvaran BTech and Shambo Shiva Shambo.

Samuthirakani is the helmer of Nadodigal, Nimirndhu Nil, Thondan, Neranja Manasu and Poraali, but he hasn’t taken up the directorial chair since a long time. He was last seen in Rajinikanth’s Kaala.

The shooting of RRR is being held in Hyderabad (most probably in Ramoji Studios) and the period drama is reported to feature Jr NTR and Ram Charan as best friends.
