Republic Day 2019: Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Mahesh Babu share special wishesJan 26 (AZINS) It has been 70 years since India got its Independence. The Constitution of India was in effect on January 26, 1950. It was made on November 26, 1949, but the approval came on January 26, three years after India got its Independence from the British rule on August 15, 1947 (which is celebrated as Independence Day now). It is a day India should be proud of. It is also the day when the united front of Bollywood comes together and celebrates the day with pride and honour.

Taimur Ali Khan along with his parents Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan was spotted celebrating the day by hoisting the National flag. A few celebrities also extend their wishes through tweets. This year, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and Mahesh Babu were among the ones to wish the public.

Some other celebs also took advantage the occasion to share new stills from their movies. Salman Khan shared a still from Bharat, Akshay Kumar revealed it from Kesari and John Abraham followed suit by tweeting a still from his film Batla House which releases on Independence Day.

Republic Day is celebrated on a smaller scale in Mumbai, but the main tribute takes place in Rajpath, New Delhi, where the President of India, government officials and foreign delegations are also present.
