'I thought that it was me doing something wrong and I have caused it': Sonali Bendre on being diagnosed with cancerFeb 2 (AZINS) It was shocking news for everyone when Sonali Bendre announced on her social media that she has been diagnosed with high-grade cancer. Since then, the actor has been updating about her health to her fans. Sonali got treated in New York and she came back to India in December 2018 after five months. The actor spread positivity all around and people lauded her for fighting against cancer in the most beautiful way.

At a recent event, Sonali spoke at length about the reaction she got after getting diagnosed with cancer. She stated, "Everyone said, 'Your lifestyle was never like that. How did it happen to you?' I actually thought that it was me doing something wrong and that I have caused it. I went to a psychiatrist in New York. I was like, I don't understand what is happening to me. I'm not a negative person, I have a lot of positive thoughts. Am I being delusional? Do I actually have negative thoughts and I am burying it so deep in my sub-conscience that I don't realise it? I needed to understand what was happening to me."

Sonali further spoke about how the psychiatrist explained it to her and helped her to deal with these feelings which came across her mind. She revealed that it helped her stop self-blaming and said, "I realised that we have done nothing wrong if we have got this disease."

For the event, the actor travelled all the way to Delhi and Sonali has been making several public appearances, since the time she returned post-treatment.
