Sidharth Malhotra: I can't be solely blamed for film's poor collections
July 28 (AZINS) Sidharth Malhotra began his career with a bang! The actor, who was just another middle-class boy from Delhi, received a grand launch in 2012 with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year. The actor had various fans, especially female fans, drooling over him ever since.

The actor even picked up his career with a fair speed. He received hits in Hasee Toh Phasee, Ek Villain and Kapoor and Sons. However, thereafter Sidharth saw a lull phase in his career. After Brothers failing at the Box Office, Sidharth saw a spree of failed movies in Baar Baar Dekho, A Gentleman, Ittefaq and Aiyaary.

Talking about Box Office in his recent interview to Bombay Times, the actor said, "This is such an unpredictable profession that with every film, you are simply guessing and learning. Yes, out of so many people who were launched in recent times, we are among the handful of artistes who have been accepted by the audience. After that, it’s a matter of being consistent as an actor. Not every film will work and you will make mistakes. It could be the route you took, the approach you had for a role or the team, or something else. You have to constantly keep a tab on these things — on what worked in your favour and what didn’t."

Sidharth also informed that he cannot be solely blamed for a movie's failure. "Unfortunately, it all becomes about the actor, but there’s a team behind every film. I can’t be solely blamed for a film’s poor collections, and I also can’t be the only reason for a film to work," he added.

Sid also went on to mention that people had perceptions about Jabariya Jodi which didn't really work in his favour. Clarifying about the same, he concluded, "If you are producing a film as an actor, which a lot of people are, you become more liable. The more you face the camera, the more you learn. The only thing I have tried doing through the years is to ensure that no two roles of mine feel similar. People just assumed that I may not be very convincing as a Bihari boy in Jabariya Jodi because I’ve never done something like this before. What they don’t realise is that I come from Delhi and I know people who speak in that lehza, and so, it couldn’t have been so difficult for me to speak like that."

Jabariya Jodi brings Sidharth back with his Hasee Toh Phasee co-star Parineeti Chopra. Directed by Prashant Singh, the movie, which happens to be an important film for Sidharth's career after his spree of flops, is slated to release on August 2.
