'Mission Mangal' Box Office: Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan's film mints over Rs 175 crore by week 2
Mission Mangal which features Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menon and Sharman Joshi in pivotal roles has reached closer to Rs. 200 crore mark two weeks within its release. The movie was received well since its Independence Day release.

Much like John Abraham's Batla House, which also released on the same day, Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan starrer Mission Mangal also recieved a boost during Janmashtami festival. As the second week since its release came to an end, Mission Mangal went on to mint more than Rs. 175 crore.

After minting Rs. 3.15 crore on Wednesday, Mission Mangal went on to earn Rs. 3.05 crore on Thursday, crossing yet another benchmark within its second week. Confirming the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#MissionMangal inches closer to *lifetime biz* of #2Point0 and emerge Akshay Kumar’s highest grossing film... [Week 2] Fri 7.83 cr, Sat 13.32 cr, Sun 15.30 cr, Mon 3.87 cr, Tue 3.43 cr, Wed 3.15 cr, Thu 3.05 cr. Total: 178.11 cr. India biz."

Mission Mangal, made of budget of Rs. 32 crore, is directed by Jagan Shakti and produced by R. Balki. The movie is loosely based on the story of scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, India's first interplanetary expedition. The movie is jointly produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions, Fox Star Studios, Aruna Bhatia, and Anil Naidu.

Mission Mangal and Batla House will face competition from Prabhas-Shraddha Kapoor's much-awaited movie Saaho, which released on August 30. The movie is expected to affect collections of the two movies which have been working well at the Box Office since Independence Day.
