'Joker' Box Office Report Day 2: Joaquin Phoenix's film sees drop in business on Thursday

Gandhi Jayanti this year saw big releases in cinema, while WAR emerged victorious on the Indian Box Office, Joker is still faring well on the ticketing booths. The film was one of the most anticipated releases this year worldwide. After receiving a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival 2019 the buzz around the DC film increased even more.

The film as reported by Boxofficeindia.com made Rs 5.75 crore at the India box office on day one and saw a considerable fall on day two. With business dropping 35 % Joker collected a total of Rs 9.25 crores approximately. However, worldwide the film has earned approximately Rs. 38.3 crores. Joker release in all four markets, including South Korea, India, Indonesia, and Belgium on October 2, 2019.

Joaquin Phoenix's Joker brought back DC's biggest Gotham City villain against Batman. The film follows Arthur Fleck who makes a living as a Joker but wishes to become a stand-up comedian. As his dreams fall apart and secrets from his past come out, Arthur turns to a life of crime and accepts his new identity as The Joker.

Warner Bros. has several other films lined up for release for DC extended universe. They recently released the trailer of Margot Robbie's Birds of Prey, which is set for a February 2020 release. Some of the other big releases are Patty Jenkins directorial Wonder Woman 1984 in June 2020, The Batman reboot starring Robert Pattinson in June 2021, The Suicide Squad soft reboot in August 2021, and the Jason Momoa returning as Aquaman in sequel for a December 2022 release.
