'WAR' turns 5th opening record for Hrithik Roshan
With his latest release War — co-starring Tiger Shroff — becoming the highest opener with Rs 51.60 crore in Hindi, Hrithik Roshan has set a record for the fifth time. According to Box Office India, his earlier first-daybreaking records include Mission Kashmir (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Agneepath (2012) and Krrish (2013). “It feels great when people come out in large numbers to watch your film and get entertained by it.

Having said that, I can’t take the sole credit for the films. Each movie is the hard work of hundreds of people right from the director to all actors and technicians,” he says about this feat.

When told that apart from his performance, which got rave reviews, people have also appreciated his salt-pepper look in the film, Hrithik said, “Kabir (his character) goes beyond the looks. There is a certain mystery to him that makes him more attractive. The best compliment for me about this character is the acceptance of making him look older and more mature on-screen, which it required.”

Coming on the back of Super 30’s success, it’s a double jammy for the light-eyed hero. In an earlier interview to this paper, he had said, “Having success in Super 30 has reaffirmed my belief in myself in a big way. I do very few films, and because of that, I need to know that my instincts are in the right place. I could lose a lot of years and a long duration on the film if one’s gut feeling goes wrong. So, it’s encouraging that my instincts are going right.”And, now with War inching its way to being a Rs 100-crore film, his instincts seem to have been bang-on!
