Social networking platforms Instagram and Facebook suffered a global outrage on Thursday, with users taking to Twitter to complain with hashtags like #instagramdown and #facebookdown.

It is not clear if the outage was across the platform or only a group of users were facing the issue. Some features were loading for some users while some faced fluctuations on the networks. 

Both Instagram and Facebook are owned by social media giant Facebook Inc. WhatsApp, the messenger service owned by the company, is said to be working fine. 

Reports said features like Stories and the main feed on Instagram are working fine but the feed of user profiles are not loading. 

Facebook users reported that they were getting a flash message saying that something is wrong.
