Sayani Gupta condemns police brutality on Jamia students, asks Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar to talk to PM Modi
Protests in Jamia Milia Islamia had turned violent after agitators allegedly set ablaze four buses near New Friends Colony. At least six policemen, two fire brigade personnel, and several students were injured in the conflicts. 10 people were arrested for the same, but none of them were students.

The Jamia Milia Islamia protests created a conflict even on Twitter. Many people condemned the act. Among them, Bollywood actor Sayani Gupta, who had even worked with Shah Rukh Khan in his movie Fan, questioned B-Town celebrities. She asked those clicking selfies with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to talk to him on the matter.

Tagging Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao, Sayani wrote, "On behalf of the students of Jamia & AMU request at least one of you to tweet or message Mr.Modi condemning this act of police brutality and violence against students. The time has come to speak up guys. Yes? No? May be?"

Among them, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao responded and urged for a peaceful protest on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Ayushmann tweeted, "Deeply disturbed about what the students went through and I strongly condemn this. All of us have the right to protest and exercise our fundamental freedom of expression. However, protests also cannot turn violent and lead to destruction of public property. That simply is counterproductive. Dear countrymen, this is the land of Gandhi. Ahimsa is and should be the tool to express. Have faith in democracy."

Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao wrote, "I strongly condemn the violence that the police have shown in dealing with the students. In a democracy the citizens have the right to peacefully protest.I also condemn any kind of act of destruction of the public properties. Violence is not the solution for anything!"

PM Modi also responded to the protest writing, "I want to unequivocally assure my fellow Indians that CAA does not affect any citizen of India of any religion. No Indian has anything to worry regarding this Act. This Act is only for those who have faced years of persecution outside and have no other place to go except India."

Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar are yet to respond on the CAA protests if they ever will.
