Netizens love Mumbai police's hilarious take on COVID-19 lockdown using Bollywood actorsThe Mumbai Police is known for its quirky ways infusing information with witty content in their posts on social media. Not only are these posts funny, but they definitely get the point across.

Mumbai has been under a lockdown due to COVID-19 for over a month now and city police has been posting regularly on their social media handles asking people to act like responsible citizens and stay home.

Infusing pop culture references with a social message, the Mumbai Police has done it again with their latest #BeBollyGood campaign.

The Mumbai Police kickstarted their campaign with with 'first superstar' of Indian cinema, Rajesh Khanna. Using the legendary actor’s iconic dialogue, ‘Pushpa, I hate tears’, the cops urged Mumbaikar to order food at home during the pandemic. “Pushpa, we hate rule-breakers! Stay home rey… ” the post was captioned.

The next in line for the campaign was Bollywood’s Shehanshah, Amitabh Bachchan. “‘Big-B’ lunder — wearing your mask below nose,” the post read, reminding citizens to wear their masks properly. In the caption, the cops used a reference from Big B’s hit film ‘Mohabbatein’, “Not wearing a mask properly is not your Parampara, Pratishtha, anushasan.”

The police force also used actress Kajol’s reference in a witty way. “You can’t ‘Kajol’ us thinking getting chocolates is essential,” they wrote, adding “Cheater, cheater, cheater…That’s what you are!” In the caption referring to her hit movie ‘kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.

The use of actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s name was a rather funny one. “‘Ayush, Mann’ ja — it is very unwise to step out unnecessarily,” read the post with the caption, “Be 'Zyada Saavdhan' today to ensure everything’s ‘Shubh Mangal’ everyday.”

For the next two posts, the Mumbai Police used Deepika Padukone and husband Ranveer Singh reference to make their public service announcements.

Junior Bachchan also got featured in the #BeBollyGood campaign. Taking a fun take on his name, the post read, “‘Abhi’ fist bump, ‘Shek’ hands when it’s safer please!” with the caption, “Guru’, Mumbai ho ya ‘Delhi-6’ feet distance zaruri hai! Social distancing ko ‘abhi alvida na kehna,’” taking a reference from Abhishek’s hit movies ‘Guru’ and ‘Kabhi Alvida Naya Kehna”.

Using Vidya Balan’s hit dialogue from ‘The Dirty Picture’, the force in its post wrote, “‘Safety sirf teen cheezon ki wajah se milti hain - Precaution Precaution Precaution - Aur staying home precaution hai’. “Gain ‘Vidya' at home ‘Balan you can meet your classmates later,” read the post.

The latest actor to feature in the campaign is Kalki. Using her name in punny way, the Mumbai Police asked people to take due precautions. “‘Kal-ki’ sne dekha hai? But taking precautions today is a better plan for tomorrow,” read the post with a caption, “Zindagi na milegi doobara! Then why risk it by loitering in your 'gully'?

The filmy posts have defiantly struck a cord with people and netizens are going gaga over the Bollywood references. So, once again, Mumbai police’s social media team has grabbed eyeballs with their distinctive and informative posts.
