Chris Gayle returns to CPL and back with St Kitts and Nevis PatriotsThe St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are slowly building a powerful roster ahead of the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as after trading in star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo from Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), they have signed the 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle again.

Gayle, who played for the Patriots in the 2017 and 2018 editions of the CPL has rejoined the franchise after a one-year break from the league. The 41-year old pulled out of the last year's edition owing to personal reasons after he was supposed to play for the Daren Sammy-led St Lucia Zouks.

Gayle's signing is a booster shot to the Patriots side, who finished last in the six-team tournament after a couple of major signing in Sherfane Rutherford from Guyana Amazon Warriors and the trade of Bravo. Patriots retained only 7 players in Evin Lewis, Fabian Allen, Sheldon Cottrell, Rayad Emrit, Jon Russ Jaggesar, Dominic Drakes and Joshua Da Silva, with Emrit set to lead the side once again.

Gayle played for his home side Jamaica Tallahwahs in the first four seasons of the league before shifting to Patriots and again returning to the Tallahwahs setup in 2019 again. But he made an exit from the franchise after that season and publicly blamed the coach Ramnaresh Sarwan for it.

Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant to Mithali Raj, cricketers who look dapper in shades Patriots' best season came when Gayle was part of the side in 2017 edition when they reached the finals and will be hoping for something similar as the big man returns to the fold again.
