Misbah equals Viv's record for fastest Test centuryAbu Dhabi, Nov 2  Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq Sunday equalled the record for the fastest Test century, achieving the feat off 56 balls on the fourth day of the second cricket Test against Australia here Sunday.

Misbah enroute to his unbeaten 101 off 57 balls, levelled the 28-year-old record set by West Indian legend Viv Richards in terms of balls faced. Richards had achieved the landmark against England at Antigua in 1986.

During the innings, Misbah also broke the fastest Test half-century record, reaching the mark off just 21 balls, eclipsing South African Jacques Kallis, who took 24 balls in 2005.

Pakistan declared at 293/3 in their second innings to set Australia a target of 603 runs for victory who were struggling at 143/4 at stumps on day four. Pakistan are leading the two-match Test series 1-0 after winning by 221 runs in Dubai.
