Google just built a wearable prototype eerily similar to the Star Trek communicatorWashington, Nov 24(AZINS) Google has developed a prototype wearable device, inspired by the trademark communicator from the Star Trek series, which can allow users to leave their phones in their pocket and hear responses through wireless headphones.

Similar to it's Hollywood counterpart, you can tap the device and then initiate a voice search on Google. The command is passed on to your phone and the device gives you audio feedback either from its built-in mini speaker or a headset. According to a report by TIME, the device was the brainchild of Google senior vice president? Amit Singhal. It's tiny, small enough to fit on two of your fingers set together, circular in shape and is meant to be worn on your lapel. The prototype has a built-in microphone and Bluetooth unit, and is intended to test out how users might interact with voice search in new ways.

The idea behind the ddevelopment was to make it easier for people to query to Google without having to take out their cell phones.  "I always wanted that pin. You just ask it anything and it works. That's why we were like, 'Let's go prototype that and see how it feels'," Singhal said.
