This Google Street View tour of the world’s largest miniature railway setup is the best thing you’ll see todayMumbai, Jan 14(AZINS) There exists a permanent exhibition in Hamburg, Germany, called Miniatur Wunderland that’s bound to send any railfan into a tizzy--a massive miniature setup comprising the largest model railway in the world. And when we say massive, we mean 1,300 square meters of miniature model covered floor space, 13 Km of tracks, 930 trains, 335,000 lights, 2,15,000 figurines, 8,850 cars and nearly a quarter of a million trees--and this is continually growing!

Construction of this expansive model set started way back in 2001 and comprises eight distinct construction areas including Switzerland, America, Scandanavia, The Alps, and even an ‘operational’ Knuffingen airport, complete with working vehicular, airplane and rail traffic.

So of course when the Google Street View team drove a little car around this rolling Lilliputian countryside, the results were bound to be spectacular and nothing like you’ve ever seen before. The team actually built a special video capturing rig in partnership with a company called Ubilabs that they used to film this entire scaled-down model experience from street level, complete with a special tiny Google Street View car.
