Penthouse Magazine to soon be digital onlyMumbai, Jan 16(AZINS) After 51 years in print, Penthouse will soon print their last magazine. The pornographic magazine will solely be available online.

The company statement reads, "This will be a new way for its readers to experience the world's best adult magazine, reimagined for the preferred consumption of content today by consumers, the digital version of Penthouse Magazine will combine and convert everything readers know and love about the print magazine experience to the power of a digital experience."

The move will see the closure of its magazine division in New York while simultaneously moving all of its operations to its Los Angeles headquarters. Subscribers will receive instructions on how to receive their subscriptions online.

Ezra Shashoua, CFO of FriendFinder Networks, (which owns the magazine) said "Penthouse Magazine will continue to be published in print during the transition to digital. No specific date to stop print publication of our flagship magazine has been set,"

Playboy made a similar move a while ago. The last issue of Playboy was published in December with Pamela Anderson gracing its cover.

Given all the free adult content online, it comes as no surprise that the company has been going through a rough patch for several years now. In fact, Penthouse filed for bankruptcy back in 2004 and was subsequently bought by current owners, FriendFinder who claim that the magazine hasn't turned a profit since 2008.
