James Corden 'thrilled' to host 2016 Tony AwardsJohannesburg, Feb 4(AZINS) The Tony Award-winning actor and current host of 'The Late Late Show', James Corden is all set to emcee the 70th Annual Tony Awards, which marks the biggest successes in live Broadway theatre.

The 37-year-old actor said that he is absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Tony Awards as working on Broadway has been amongst the happiest time of his professional life, Channel 24 reported.

The 'Into the Woods' star added that he considers it a huge honour to be asked to host such an incredible night, noting "It's gonna be fun, I can't wait to dust off my tap shoes!"

Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League, and Heather Hitchens, President of the American Theatre Wing, said in a joint statement that Corden is one of those rare performers, whose gifts translate perfectly to both the Broadway stage and the television screen, making him the ideal choice to host the Tony Awards.

They added "The last time he was at the Tonys, he went home with one. We think he'll have even more fun as host. This is going to be one unforgettable show."

The 70th Tony Awards will take place in New York City on 12 June.
