'The Witcher 3' feted at GDC AwardsMumbai, Mar 18(AZINS) Sprawling fantasy adventure "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" received top honours at the Game Developers Choice Awards from 2016, while "Her Story" collected three plaques.

Scooping Best Technology as well as overall Game of the Year was PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC release "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," adding to a heaving trophy cabinet that includes accolades from the Writers Guild of America and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.

"Her Story" had already featured in the Game Developers Conference's Independent Games Festival ceremony, where it won the Grand Prize, and during the GDCA ceremony the Mac, PC, Linux and iOS release picked up awards for Innovation, Best Handheld / Mobile game, and Best Narrative.

"Ori and the Blind Forest" claimed both Best Visual Art and Best Debut for its studio, Best Audio went to "Crypt of the Necrodancer," and Best Design was given to breakout hit "Rocket League," while episodic adventure "Life is Strange" won the Audience Award.

Markus Persson, creator of "Minecraft," was given the GDCA's annual Pioneer Award, influential University of Southern California educator Tracy Fullerton was recognized with an Ambassador Award, and a Lifetime Achievement Award went to Todd Howard, creative director at the studio behind hit franchises "The Elder Scrolls" and "Fallout."
