'I rebel', roars Felicity Jones in first teaser of 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'Mumbai, Apr 7(AZINS) The events of Star Wars: A New Hope had a story behind them and this time we will know what they were.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the first teaser trailer of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is finally here. This is the first spin-off in the Star Wars storyline with a separate movie on Han Solo in the pipeline. The story goes 40 years back in time from the 1977 original movie.

In the teaser, we see Felicity Jones, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in The Theory of Everything, be the rebel. She is an outlaw who can single-handedly take down a group of stormtroopers. The loose cannon asks the leader of rebels, "This is a rebellion, isn't it? I rebel."

In the trailer, we also see Diago Luna who is Jones' partner in rebel. There is Ben Mendelson who looks intimidating in an ominous costume. Forest Whitaker, who looks like a veteran of the war who has developed skills to survive, could be the mentor of Jones' character. There is also Donnie Yen who is capable of bringing down the enemy with the help of a single staff. Jiang Wen looks like he is going for the hail mary pass and he will take the Imperial Walkers with him.

The trailer gives no glimpse of the characters of Mads Mikkelsen and Riz Ahmed.

At the D23 Expo, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy had described the plotline of the movie. "Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films. But it will still have elements that we are familiar with from the Star Wars universe. It goes into new territory, exploring a new galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know."

At the end of the teaser, Forest Whitaker's character asks a question, "If you continue to fight, what will you become?" We have our answer in the title then.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to release on December 16 at the end of this year. Not to be confused with Star Wars Episode VIII which will pick up the story after Star Wars: The Force Awakens and has a release date in December 2017.
