Mark Zuckerberg's VR and AR dreamMumbai, Apr 13(AZINS) Facebook made a viable push into the virtual reality segment after the acquisition of Oculus Rift in 2014, now the social media giant is claiming stake into augmented reality.

The Company’s chief executive Mark Zuckerberg claims that in the future, virtual reality and augmented reality will be experienced with a powerful gadget that looks like an ordinary pair of glasses (even if he has to make aforementioned glasses himself.)

"Virtual reality has the potential to be the most social platform because you actually feel like you're right there with another person," he said

He added that Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality are a part Facebook’s 10-year plan which makes sense as the platforms are expected to become a $120 billion market by 2020, according to AR/VR tech advisor Digi-Capital.

Facebook's VR investment has already proved successful. Oculus Rift VR headsets were back ordered resulting in a delayed release date while Users of Samsung Gear VR -- Powered by Oculus -- have already viewed over 2 million hours of video

“VR makes you feel like you are right there with another person,” said Zuckerberg.
