Users will soon be able to upload 360-degree photos on Facebook with a smartphoneMumbai, May 12(AZINS) Facebook announces 360-degree photographs will soon come to your news feeds and the best part is, all you require is a smartphone to shoot.

The update will expand upon their 360-degree video update that the company launched in September and will have the same mechanics, expect with image stills.

Users can move their smartphone or use their mouse to click and then drag to view the entire image.

Like the aforementioned 360-degree video, users can view the images with Oculus Rift or Gear VR headsets

360-degree photos are much easier to shoot as they don't require any add-ons expect for a smartphone and require less bandwidth compared to the video counterpart.

Users will be able to upload panoramas, photospheres (by Google) as well as images captured on a 360-degree camera.

Three years ago, the search engine juggernaut, Google introduced 360-degree videos on its Photospheres platform but that, unfortunately, was never popularised due the lack of seamless sharing options.

Facebook hasn't made an official statement on when it plans to roll out the update, although the company said that 360-degree photos will be coming to news feeds in the next few weeks.
