Spice Girls reunion plans called offLondon, July 3(AZINS) The plan to bring back the British pop girl group Spice Girls seems to be in trouble. It is being reported that a final bid to tempt singer Mel C to get onboard has failed.

According to sources close to the former band mates, the final attempt to get Mel C to join the party this week failed, reports mirror.co.uk.

Some members of the all-female music group -- which includes Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham -- were willing to wait for another 12 months.

They were hoping to reunite this year to mark two decades since the release of their debut album.

Several reports initially claimed the big event could even see all five members involved before it emerged that Victoria had declined to take part.

Halliwell, Mel B and Bunton were prepared to wait until next year for the other two to join in, but Mel C has told friends she is not interested now.

And after months of wrangling, the group has pulled the plug on the project.

A source said: "Mel C has been telling friends it’s not happening -- not for the anniversary and not next year. She’s not interested in revisiting the band, and neither is Victoria. Their decision has made it impossible for the other three to go ahead with plans to tour again. They know it wouldn’t be quite the same to get on stage as a threesome.”

The source went to add: “Doing it without Victoria would have been a shame but might have been a possibility, but two missing is too many. The Spice Girls’ last reunion worked because it was all five of them and they gave their fans what they wanted. This feels a bit more like it would be cheating the fans, and none of them want to do that.”
