The former couple, who ended their nearly two-decade-long marriage in December, exchanged sweet birthday messages this week.

Griffith and Banderas's birthdays are just one day apart, August 9 and August 10, and both took to social media to wish each other, reports people.com.

"Happy Birthday to my ruggedly handsome ex husband," Griffith, 59, captioned on Instagram, alongside a red carpet picture of her and her ex-husband. "Will always love you," she added.

Banderas had earlier shared his birthday message via Twitter, alongside a photograph of himself, Griffith and their daughter, Stella.

"Happy birthday Melanie," the actor wrote in Spanish.
