Hafiz Saeed barred from leading Friday prayers, Pak's Punjab govt takes control of JuD, FiF headquarters

Mar 8(AZINS) 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed and the chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa was on Friday stopped from leading the Imam's prayer from Jamia Masjid Qadsia Mosque in Lahore. The Jamia Masjid Qadsia is the headquarters of the United Nations listed terror group--Jammat Ud Dawa.

The government of Pakistan's Punjab province had taken over the Mosque as part of a crackdown on the terror group. The development comes days after the Pakistani government had put Saeed's Jammat Ud Dawa and Falah e insaniat foundation under the ban list.

But New Delhi will see it as eyewash given the fact Pakistan has been such measures in the aftermath every major terror attack in India.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said his govt will not allow its territory to be used by terror groups.

He said, "Under national action plan we will not allow any terrorist group to use Pakistani territory. We will not allow any armed militia to function in this country. This is for the betterment of Pakistan."

Adding, "Pakistan's territory will not be used for any kind terrorism outside. My government will not allow that"

His comments come even as global pressure grows on Islamabad to act on terror infrastructure. US, UK, France, Australia and many other countries have been calling on Pakistan to act on terror groups on its territory after the Pulwama terror attack on 14th February that killed more than 40 CRPF Personnel.

The state dept has urged "Pakistan to take sustained, irreversible action against terrorist groups that will prevent future attacks and that will promote regional stability."
