ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Kedar Jadhav declared fit for tournament, to travel with Team India

May 18 (AZINS) In a major boost for World Cup bound Team India, all-rounder Kedar Jadhav has been declared fit to travel to England with the squad led by skipper Virat Kohli.

According to reports on Saturday, Jadhav will now travel with the rest of the Indian team leaving for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on 22 May.

Jadhav's participation in the ICC tournament was deemed doubtful after he hurt his left shoulder while fielding during Chennai Super Kings (CSK) IPL game against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Mohali earlier this month during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He was given immediate rest and missed IPL playoffs as the CSK did not want to take any risk. BCCI had blanket instructions that any injury to World Cup-bound players will be given utmost priority.

Kedar hurt his shoulder while diving near the boundary ropes to save an overthrow in the bowled by Dwayne Bravo who failed to collect the throw from Ravindra Jadeja.

Kedar was seen wincing in pain after the dive and walked over the boundary ropes to be attended to by CSK physio Tommy Simsek. He did not take the field for the rest of the innings with Murali Vijay coming in as the substitute. 

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the BCCI asked team physio Patrick Farhart to return to India early from Australia and monitor Jadhav's condition. After examinim him, Farhart submitted Jadhav's fitness report to BCCI, giving him the green signal.

The 50-over tournament will take place in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14. India will open their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5. India takes on New Zealand (May 25) and Bangladesh (May 28) in the warm-up matches before the World Cup.
