Why hasn't govt brought law on mob lynching despite SC order: Owaisi asks Amit Shah

July 19 (AZINS) AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Lok Sabha on Friday demanded a law on mob lynching and asked the government that why it is not being made.

Addressing the matter to Amit Shah, Asaduddin Owaisi said, "I would like to ask the Home Minister, why a law on mob lynching is not being made? Last year Supreme Court had asked the government to make a law on mob lynching. If you make all SC's orders into laws, why not this?"

Owaisi has often criticised the Modi government and more recently after the Jharkhand lynching incident when he had accused BJP-RSS for the crime.

In a statement to a news agency earlier, Owaisi had said, "people are being beaten up if they do not raise slogans of 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Vande Mataram'. Such incidents aren't going to stop. Only Muslims and Dalits are being targeted. There are organisations behind such incidents and all of them are linked to Sangh Parivar."

Asaduddin Owaisi was also at loggerhead with Home Minister Amit Shah after a Parliament session a couple of days ago. This happened following a verbal spat in Lok Sabha during NIA amendment bill discussion with Home Minister Amit Shah when Owaisi had said that whoever doesn't support their (BJP) decisions, they call them anti-nationals.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament on Monday, Owaisi said, "Whoever doesn't support their (BJP) decisions, they call them anti-nationals. Have they opened shop of nationals and anti-nationals?"

Asaduddin Owaisi also accused Amit Shah of threatening them by raising his finger.

"Amit Shah threatens us by raising his finger but he is just a Home Minister, not God. He should read rules first," Owaisi said.

Responding to Owaisi's accusation in Lok Sabha, Amit Shah had said that he was not trying to threaten anybody but if there was fear in the minds of people then what can he do.

Shah said he was not trying to frighten him and just saying that opposition members should have the patience to listen to the counter view. "When you have fear in your mind than what can I do," he added.
