MS Dhoni suffered hairline fracture during India vs England, kept it quiet to serve in Army: Report

For MS Dhoni, duty always comes first.

Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, an honorary Lieutenant Colonel, has joined with the army troops in Kashmir valley and will carry out patrolling, guard duties and similar responsibilities just like other soldiers.

But according to a lof of recent reports, the wicketkeeper-batsman's finger injury during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in UK has aggravated to a hairline fracture.

MSD pucked up this injury during Team India's clash against England at Edgbaston on June 30. Dhoni played an unbeaten knock of 42 runs off 31 deliveries. India on the day lost the game by 31 runs but after the match, he was spotted spitting blood by putting his thumb in the mouth.

"Dhoni injured a finger during India vs England match. However, he continued to be in the game even after the injury. The intensity of the damage is so high that it is speculated to be a hairline fracture. It’s hurting the former captain of India so much that he cannot even close his fist," In.com quoted an anonymous source.

MS is currently not part of Virat Kohli's Team India squad for the ongoing series against the West Indies.

Allegedly, due to his long-time commitment to serve the Indian army, Dhoni decided not to make his injury public after the end of the World Cup 2019.

"Dhoni wanted to keep this injury a big secret. He didn’t want any fuss around it. In fact, he has not even got it scanned by the doctors in order to avoid the beans getting spilt," the source added.

"The big reason behind this being the Territorial Army. He didn’t want the injury to get officially detected for obvious reasons, as he didn’t want to get disqualified for training."

MS Dhoni will reportedly be unfurling the tricolour on the Independence Day in Leh, Ladakh.
