Massive fire breaks out at S Sreesanth's Kochi residence, wife and children rescued safely

A massive fire broke out at Indian cricketer S Sreesanth’s residence in Edappally, Ernakulam at 2:30 AM on Saturday morning.

According to reports, one of the rooms in the Kochi house was completely charred. Sreesanth was not at home and was shooting for a film in Mumbai when the fire broke out on the ground floor of his house.

Sreesanth’s wife and children were present, but no one is said to be injured in the accident. The fire was first noticed by a neighbour who immediately called the fire officials.

The officials were quick to douse the fire and evacuate those present inside the house by breaking open a glass ventilator.

According to Sreesanth, the fire broke out in the drawing-room when his wife and children were on the first floor. It is believed that a short circuit in a ceiling fan caused the fire.

On cricketing front, Sreesanth's life ban was reduced to 7 years by the BCCI Ombudsman DK Jain. He even expressed his desire to make a comeback in the Indian Test team and pick at least 100 wickets before ending his career.

“I am so relieved and happy. All these years I have been trying to prove my innocence and the efforts have finally borne fruit. It’s God’s grace that I have finally managed to come out of this and hopefully, I can be active in cricket again,” Sreesanth told MyKhel.

Before the ban, Sreesanth represented India in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals, claiming 169 wickets across formats.
