DUSU election result: ABVP wins 3 posts, NSUI bags one

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has won three out of four posts in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections. The counting of votes began on Friday (today) morning.

Whereas the Congress' student wing National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has claimed victory on only one post. 

Earlier, ABVP candidates were leading on all the four posts after counting of votes for the first round was completed.

The voting percentage recorded this year was 39.90 against 44.46 turnout last year.

APVP, affiliated to BJP, has fielded Akshit Dahiya for the post of DUSU president, Pradeep Tanwar for the vice president, Yogit Rathee for the general secretary and Shivangi Kherwal for the post of joint secretary.

The Congress-affiliated NSUI has fielded Chetna Tyagi as President, Ankit Bharti for the vice president's post, Ashish Lamba for the secretary's post and Abhishek Chaprana for the post of joint secretary. 

The polling was held across 52 centres in the national capital. A total of 1.3 lakh DUSU students were eligible to cast their vote and 16 candidates were in the fray.

The counting of votes took place at Kingsway Camp community hall.
