24-hour 'Bharat Bandh' called by trade unions on January 8; here are services likely to be affected by nationwide strike

A 24-hour 'Bharat Bandh' (nationwide strike) has been called on January 10, i.e. on Wednesday by as many as ten central trade unions. The strike has been called as a protest against economic policies of the central government that are alienating the working class and demands for labour reforms.

The trade unions who have called the 'Bharat Bandh' include INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, SEWA, UTUC, LPF, AICCTU, TUCC, and other sectoral independent federations. It has been reported that the banking and agricultural sector, too, will be participating in the strike. The complete list of trade unions who have called for the nationwide strike tomorrow will be provided below.

Meanwhile, among the demands that the unions have raised are fixing a minimum wage, social security, uniform five-day week and demand a pay hike. A 12-point plan has been formulated relating to the common demands of the working class.
