One century, three feats: Can Virat Kohli break Ricky Ponting's record and equal two of Sachin Tendulkar’s in 2nd ODI?

The result of the first ODI in Mumbai was surely not what Team India expected, but keeping the past behind, they now look to equal the series in Rajkot against Australia.

While the team is gearing for the mighty Aussies, India captain Virat Kohli, who could get back to his usual No. 3 spot, will be eyeing three massive feats.

With just a century, Kohli can break Ricky Ponting’s record and equal two of Sachin Tendulkar’s.

Kohli can go past Ponting and become the first cricketer to score 42 centuries across formats as captain.

The skipper is currently tied with the Aussie legend with 41 international centuries.

A ton in Rajkot will also mean Kohli will equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries against Australia. While Kohli currently has 8 centuries against the visitors, Tendulkar has 9.

Kohli could also become the third highest run scorer by an Indian against Australia after the 'Master Blaster' and Rohit Sharma.

He also has the 4th best batting average against the Aussies after Rohit Sharma (60.20), AB de Villiers (59.52) and Faf du Plessis (54.00) (min 1000 runs scored) Virat Kohli has 8 centuries against Australia in ODIs.

Not just that if Kohli scores a hundred, it will be his 20th ODI ton in India, a mark achieved only by Sachin Tendulkar till date.

While there are many things the batsman could achieve, the one thing he will need to be careful about is the Adam Zampa threat.

The young Australian leggie has got him out six times in limited overs cricket.
