IPL 2020: Elbow fracture forces Jofra Archer to miss upcoming season for Rajasthan Royals

Star fast-bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of England's upcoming Test tour of Sri Lanka on Thursday (February 6).

The England Cricket Board (ECB) also confirmed that the pacer has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of his elbow and will not be able to take part in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.

“Archer underwent further scans on his injured right elbow yesterday in the UK which confirmed a low grade stress fracture,” a statement released by ECB confirmed.

The 24-year-old will now set to undergo an injury rehabilitation program with the ECB medical team.

The aim now for Archer is to be fit again for England's three-match Test series encounter against West Indies in June later this year.

Jofra missed the final three Test matches of England’s 3-1 series win over the Proteas as he flew back from South Africa earlier to start working on his fitness.

The pacer was a key part of England's ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 winning squad. His IPL side, Rajasthan Royals, will now be looking to cope without their best bowler in the tournament and maybe rope in someone to recover the loss.
