Taliban likely to announce Afghanistan's new cabinet either today or tomorrow

The Taliban 2.0 government is in the final stages of formalization with the first announcement of the new Cabinet of Ministers expected to happen in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Taliban chief Hibatullah Akhundzada is expected to reach Kabul today with the outfit likely to announce the new Cabinet of the Afghanistan government as early as today evening or tomorrow, according to a Hindustan Times report. Akhundzada is currently in Kandahar.

With the US forces having finally left Afghanistan, the Taliban was seen celebrating the end of the war with gunfire yesterday as it took total control of the Kabul Airport.

A senior Taliban leader, Anas Haqqani, was quoted by Al Jazeera revealing information on similar lines, suggesting the upcoming new government’s likely announcement. He told the media outlet shortly before the last of the US aircraft left Kabul Airport, “The government will take shape in the following few days.”

The outfit has stated that it intends to form a government that is “inclusive”, respect human rights and gives women freedoms “within Islamic law”. The Taliban had also urged government officials to return in the wake of the chaos at Kabul Airport as thousands of Afghans attempted to flee the regime. It also declared a general amnesty in the country.
