Padma Awards 2025: Complete list of winners
On the eve of Republic Day, the central government has announced the complete list of Padma award winners. Among the country's highest civilian honours, the Padma awards are conferred in three categories - Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan.
Seven dignitaries have been conferred with Padma Vibhushan, including - Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy, Justice (Retd.) Jagdish Singh Khehar, Kumudini Rajnikant Lakhia, Lakshminarayana Subramaniam, M. T. Vasudevan Nair (Posthumous), Osamu Suzuki (Posthumous) and Bihari folk singer Sharda Sinha (Posthumous).
Dignitaries who have been honoured with Padma Bhushan include - A Surya Prakash, Anant Nag, Bibek Debroy (Posthumous), Jatin Goswami, Jose Chacko Periappuram, Kailash Nath Dikshit, Manohar Joshi (Posthumous), Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti, Nandamuri Balakrishna, P R Sreejesh, Pankaj Patel, Pankaj Udhas (Posthumous), Rambahadur Rai, Sadhvi Ritambhara, S Ajith kumar, Shekhar Kapur, Shobana Chandrakumar, late BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, and Vinod Dham.
Moreover, a total of 113 people from various fields have been awarded Padma Shri. Some of the notable names are - Bollywood singer Arijit Singh, cricketer R Ashwin, actress and dancer Mamata Shankar, Indian composer and environmentalist Ricky Gyan Kej, among many others. Some unsung heroes who have been honoured with one of the country's highest civilian awards are - L Hangthing (a fruit farmer from Nagaland), Bhim Singh Bhavesh (a social worker from Bihar), Neerja Bhatla (a gynaecologist from Delhi), Hugh and Colleen Gantzer (travel bloggers), Hariman Sharma (apple farmer), Shaikha AJ Al Sabah (Yoga practitioner from Kuwait).
PM Modi congratulates winners Soon after the announcement of the Padma awardees, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the winners, lauding them for their contributions in the respective fields. Taking to 'X', PM Modi wrote, "Congratulations to all the Padma awardees! India is proud to honour and celebrate their extraordinary achievements. Their dedication and perseverance are truly motivating. Each awardee is synonymous with hardwork, passion and innovation, which has positively impacted countless lives. Republic Day 2025 The Republic Day parade is expected to begin at 9 a.m. on January 26, i.e., tomorrow at Delhi's Kartavya Path. President Droupadi Murmu will arrive in a buggy and take the salute during a ceremonial march past, which will include units from the Armed Forces, Para Military Forces, Auxiliary Civil Forces, NCC, and NSS. As per a report by news agency ANI, the parade will begin with a unique cultural performance, where 300 cultural artists will play musical instruments from different parts of the country. This will be followed by the march past of the contingents of the Indian Armed Forces and the Indonesian contingent. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who is in India from January 23-26, will be the Chief Guest for India's 76th Republic Day celebrations.
