Actress and singer Mary Millben sings National Anthem, wishes people on Republic Day
Popular African-American actress and singer Mary Millben filled with love, proud and patriotism sang India’s National Anthem on the country’s 76th Republic Day. She wished Indians ‘Happy Republic Day’.
“To His Excellency @narendramodi, Her Excellency @rashtrapatibhvn, the Indian Allied Forces, my beloved India, and Indian communities across the world, Happy 76th Republic Day! Let’s sing together!” she said.
Millben has supported India as the country’s well-wisher and has even lauded PM Modi’s peace efforts on the world stage. She performed the Indian national anthem at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC in 2023.
At the time, she not only caught everyone’s attention by singing the Indian song but more by touching the feet of PM Modi to seek his blessings. Apart from these two performances, she had performed prior as well in 2020, during Diwali celebrations when she performed Om Jai Jagdish Hare.
Millben was the former White House Presidential Appointee to George W Bush and has done performances for world leaders including three US presidents – Barack Obama and Donald Trump. On various occasions, like Republic Day, her songs convey peace, friendship and harmony globally.
President Droupadi Murmu will lead the nation in celebrating the 76th Republic Day from Kartavya Path today with a special focus on 75 years of enactment of the Constitution and Jan Bhagidari. The celebrations this year will be a unique blend of India's rich cultural diversity, unity, equality, development and military prowess. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the Chief Guest.
