The real reason why Ranbir Kapoor refused Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy with Ranveer Singh revealed!Jan 10 (AZINS) Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer upcoming film Gully Boy is making all the right kind of noises, especially after the makers of the film dropped its mind blowing trailer on Wednesday. While Ranveer is gathering all the praises for his act of a street rapper, as seen in the Gully Boy trailer, not many are aware of the fact that even Ranbir Kapoor was offered a part in the Zoya Akhtar directorial but he turned it down.

At the trailer launch event of the film, Ranveer told the mediapersons that he would have been quite jealous if somebody had done his role in Gully Boy as he believes it was made only for him. Now, if recent reports are to be believed, then Alia's beau and Brahmastra co-star Ranbir Kapoor too was approached to play a significant role in Gully Boy about two years ago while the casting of the film was still in process and Ranveer was the only one who was confirmed to play the protagonist.

Ranbir had apparently refused to take it up when Zoya offered him another role back then. Grapevine has it that the Sanju actor wasn't keen on playing a second fiddle in a film that had Ranveer Singh in the lead. So, Ranbir politely turned down the offer.

This isn't the first time that Ranbir had turned down a Zoya Akhtar film. Earlier, Zoya reportedly had approached him for her 2015 film Dil Dhadakne Do along with Kareena Kapoor Khan. Ranbir and Kareena were supposed to be the first choice for the characters that were later portrayed by Ranveer and Priyanka Chopra respectively. As per reportsm Ranbir was also offered a part in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and he had turned that one down too.

It's interesting to note that when Ranbir was asked if he would like to share the screen space with Ranveer in a film during the promotions of Sanju, Ranbir had mentioned that he'd love to work with him provided they both like the script of the film.
