Irrfan Khan died of colon infection at the age of 53. The actor was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani hopsital, which is where he breathed his last. Reportedly the actor remembered his mother right before dying. "Amma has come to take me," was reportedly Irrfan Khan's last words.

Sharing the same, papparazzo Viral Bhayani posted an image on Instagram. "#rip #irfankhan," he wrote alongside the picture. Soon actor Sunil Grover shared a folded hands emoji on the same.

Irrfan Khan's mother Saeda Begum, aged 93, died due to natural causes on April 25, 2020. The actor could not attend his mother's funeral since she breathed her last in Jaipur. He, however, attended her funeral on a video call.

A few days later, Irrfan had to be admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani hospital in Mumbai after a colon infection. He was admitted to the ICU and according to his spokesperson, was recovering well, till the news of his untimely death was confirmed by Shoojit Sircar and his spokesperson.

Irrfan's sons Babil and Ayan performed his last rites at 3 pm today. Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia carried the late actor's mortal remains to the cemetery in Versova, where Irrfan was buried.
