Chhath Puja 2020: How to celebrate festival amid COVID-19 pandemic at your homesWith the Delhi High Court declining to entertain a plea challenging the Aam Aadmi Party government's order prohibiting Chhath Puja at public places and ghats in the national capital this year, devotees have to celebrate this festival at their homes.

The four-day-long Chhath Puja begins is majorly celebrated in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and in parts of Nepal. Since the main puja revolves around the Sun God, the sunrise and sunset timings are crucial.

How to celebrate Chhath Puja at home?

With no permission for a community celebration of Chhath Puja, devotees can pay obeisance to the Sun God at artificial water bodies such as ponds or tanks at houses or housing societies.

In unprecedented times such as this amid the COVID-19 pandemic, devotees can pray to the Sun God at their homes near the artificial water body.

In many housing societies, there are fountains or ponds where devotees can perform the puja rituals by maintaining social distancing norms and other COVID-19 guidelines.

You can also use Ganga Water that you have at home to perform the Chhath Puja rituals.

Timings and rituals of Chhath Puja 2020:

The main day of Chhath Puja is on the Shashthi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Chhath Puja is done on this day only. The third day of the festival is the main puja day, and it is called Chhath Puja. It is observed on Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. On this day, women offer Sandhya Arghya.
