The School of International Letters and Cultures at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associate Position in Hindi/Urdu. The appointment will be for the fall semester 2009, beginning August 24, 2009. Applicants are expected to have an M.A. in a relevant field (linguistics, literature, or education), experience in teaching Hindi as a second language, native or near-native fluency in Hindi, and both spoken and written fluency in English.
Experience with modern teaching technology and knowledge of Urdu script and language will be preferred.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach one section of Beginning Hindi I (Hindi 194, 4 credit hours, scheduled to meet MW 2-2:30 and TTh 1:30-2:20), and one section of Advanced Hindi (Hindi 394: Special Topics, 3 credit hours, scheduled to meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:45).
Remuneration will be $1000 per credit hour ($7000 for the two courses).
