The USIACC-AZ Executive Board and U S Small Business Administration held a free seminar on "Minority business opportunities and how to get certified to avail them" by Jamie Geist, DBE Certification Program Manager, AZDOT (who substituted for Melissa Boyle), and Robert D. Esquivel, Manager, Supplier Diversity & Development, Pinnacle West.
The seminar addressed through a PowerPoint slide presentation the state government's Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification program offered free by the Academy- under the umbrella of Arizona Department of Supportive Services. It is well known experience of small businesses that access to key decision makers, prime contractors/consultants leads to success, and ADOT addresses these needs networking opportunities among others. Through quarterly recognition of outstanding DBEs, Prime Contractors and Consultants, such Visibility is provided to all successful industry partners.
The private sector corporate diversity program undertaken by APS was presented through live website projection along-with other opportunities available for minority businesses- especially the Academy for the Advancement of Small, Minority and Women Owned Enterprises (AAAME) in an intimate, informal session.
AAAME offers a free two-year business training and monitoring program design, sponsored and administered by Arizona Public Service (APS) and has mentored about 150 individuals during its 13 years of operation.
USIACC was established five years ago and offers Growing Network of Business Professionals. One can learn about Opportunities and Resources available for Arizona Businesses make mutually beneficial business connections through network with business executives & government officials.
