Sarah Michelle Gellar thought Boy George diedLos Angeles, Dec 27 (AZINS) "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar tweeted her condolences to singer Boy George before correcting herself, just after news of George Michaels death broke.

It seems like Gellar can't tell the difference between George Michael and Boy George as she thought it was the latter who died, reports pagesix.com.

"Do you really want to hurt me? I guess you do 2016 RIP Boy George. I was truly one of your biggest fans," Gellar originally tweeted.

Fans quickly pointed out the mistake.

"Just as sad when you get the correct information - RIP George Michael. Thank you to everyone who corrected me - it's still so sad," Gellar tweeted.

The actress insisted she knows the 53-year-old Michael and Boy George, 55, are two different people.

"And for the record, yes I completely know the difference between Boy George and George Michael -- I heard incorrectly. My intentions were good," she wrote.

"This is usually why I don't comment on public matters, but it all seemed so sad on Christmas. Lesson learned."

Michael was found dead in his home in London on Christmas Day.
