As per written in the Hindu legends, evil asur Narakasur, son of Mother Earth, forcefully ruled several kingdoms brought under is reign. His atrocities were growing with each passing day, leaving the weak to his mercy. Narakasur wanted to rule the heaven, thus he challenged Lord Indra for battle. The latter went straight to Lord Vishnu and asked for his help. And, he promised to help him after his incarnation as Lord Krishna.

It is believed that having an early morning bath followed by offerings at Lord Krishna or Lord Vishnu temple brings in immense good luck, prosperity and wards of any evil presence in life. Doing so rids you off your sins.
