Teja Lakshmi wife of Ramu Mallula passed away on May 30th, 2021, due to Amniotic fluid embolism at HonorHealth Hospital in Phoenix Arizona. She was admitted for scheduled induce labor on May 30th, 2021, at Honor Health Sonoron Crossing Medical center. After some time of the labor induction procedure, amniotic fluid got into the blood stream causing cardiac arrest and severe blood loss. During this time doctors had to do an emergency C-section to save the baby. After the baby is born, Teja Lakshmi was Airlifted from Honor Health Sonoron Crossing Medical center to HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical center.
Almost fifteen doctors tried for more than 12 hours to revive her. During this procedure, Teja Lakshmi had got into Cardiac arrest state 3 times. Due to the fact that baby is born during an emergency C-section, baby needs to be monitored for his health in NICU for 10 days. Because of current COVID situation in India, getting any kind of help from India almost seems to be impossible. The elder kid Nahush is two and a half years, and the baby (boy) is three days old.
As per doctors, Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) is a very rare and serious medical condition. This is a life-threatening, acute, and unexpected birth complication that can affect both mother and baby. AFE is characterized by acute and rapid collapse of mother and/or baby as a result of an allergic-like reaction to amniotic fluid entering the maternal circulatory system. The rate at which this occurs is 1 in every 20,000 births and corresponds to 10% of all maternal deaths.
