Restrictions being eased out in phased manner in Valley: J&K Govt

J&K government spokesperson Rohit Kansal informed that the restrictions are being eased out after a local assessment by relevant local authorities of different areas and localities of the Kashmir division in a phased manner.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday said that the restrictions are being eased out in a phased manner in the Valley and the situation in the Jammu division has been restored.

The information was given by the government spokesperson Rohit Kansal during a press conference. Commissioner Secretary Information MK Dwivedi and Director Information and Public Relations Syed Sehrish Asgar were also present in the presser.

Rohit Kansal informed that the restrictions are being eased out after assessment by relevant local authorities of different areas and localities of the Kashmir division in a phased manner.

Restrictions such as blocking of phone lines, internet, have been imposed by the Centre in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) after the abrogation of Article 370 as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident in the Valley.

While referring to the initiatives taken by the government with reference to the various essential services, Kansal informed that medical services are being provided to the people without any hindrance.

He further informed that 13,500 OPDs have been given requisite medical treatment and 1400 new admissions have also been done, besides performing 600 medical procedures.

Rohit Kansal said that availability of all medicines including the life-saving ones have been ensured in every hospital across the Valley.

Meanwhile, National highway continues to function normally and the 100 heavy vehicles carrying LPG, and other essentials are plying on a daily basis, he added.
Kansal further said that flights from Valley are operating normally and 1400-1500 light motor and other vehicles are plying on a daily basis.

While referring to the full dress rehearsal of the Independence day, the spokesperson said that it has been done in every district of the Valley and the necessary arrangements have been put in place for the smooth conduct of Independence Day celebrations.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court refused to lift restrictions imposed by the Centre in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) after the abrogation of Article 370 as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident in the Valley.

Mentioning that the situation is sensitive in Kashmir, the Supreme Court said, "it would not like to pass any order that will affect normalcy and lead to any loss of lives."

The apex court said this during hearing on a petition filed by Tehseen Poonawalla seeking withdrawal of curfew, blocking of phone lines, internet, news channels and other restrictions from J&K.

The Centre assured the court that the situation in J&K is being monitored on a daily basis and a stage-by-stage decision is being reviewed to lift restrictions depending on the best interest of the administration and peace.
