Highlights | New Delhi Assembly Election 2025 Result: AAP's Arvind Kejriwal loses New Delhi seat
Delhi saw an intense three-way fight in the Assembly elections, with AAP, BJP, and Congress competing for power. AAP wants to win a third term, while BJP and Congress are trying hard to make a comeback. Key political leaders stepped into the spotlight, making this one of the most closely watched contests in recent years.
Arvind Kejriwal is once again contesting from the New Delhi seat, just as he has in the last three elections. This time, he is up against BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit.
In 2020, Kejriwal won by a big margin of 21,687 votes. He is relying on AAP’s welfare schemes, including a Rs 2,100 monthly allowance for women, to gain support.
After losing from New Delhi seat, Arvind Kejriwal acknowledged his defeat and affirmed that his party would take up the role of a "constructive opposition".
