'Incredibles 2' director Brad Bird says no to 'Avengers' crossover, here's whyAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
June 10 (AZINS) Crossovers have become buzzword since Avengers: Infinity War made a killing at the box office. But Incredibles 2 director Brad Bird would like to keep his movie away from this craze.
Fandoms of the Pixar superhero family and Marvel Cinematic Universe are filled with the chatter imagining what it would look like if the crossover ever took place. But Brad Bird is not keen on it.
During a live Q&A by IMAX, he said, "How about we keep these universes separate? And friendly! Friendly relations across the galaxy, we wish them well, they wish us well."
He compared these possibilities of cross-pollination of these universes to a mushed Thanksgiving dinner. "Individually, all these things are great! Mushed together, ‘eeugh.’ So I just like them separate and equal and happiness to all,” he said.
He said that the idea of including Marvel characters in Incredibles universe has been talked about, not with him. But he thinks that Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm serve their purpose by being their own entities. "So, that may make a marketing guy's mouth water but I don't think it makes artists excited,” said Bird.
Because Bird believes in maintaining the purity of Incredibles universe, you won't see the characters talk about DC or Marvel superheroes.
The second instalment of the series will see Helen Parr/Elastigirl take on the baddies in the real world while Bob Parr/Mr Incredible will navigate a day-to-day life of the family. It gets tricky for Bob especially with Jack Jack's powers are still being discovered.
This role reversal then had to be put on hold when a dangerous villain threatens everything The Incredibles have.
Incredibles 2 is set to release on June 22.
