HMD Global announces Android 8.1 Oreo beta update for Nokia 2Author : AZIndia News Desk
June 20 (AZINS) HMD Global has now released the Android 8.1 Oreo update to its entry-level smartphone, the Nokia 2. At the moment, the update will be available through the company’s Nokia Phones Beta Labs program. However, the company will soon roll out the stable update for the same.
Chief Product Officer, HMD Global - Home of Nokia Phones took to Twitter to make the announcement. He said, “New on #Nokiamobile Beta Labs! #Nokia2 joins the #AndroidOreo party. Join us now #nokiamobilebetalabs to be the first to the test it!”
In terms of specifications, the device features a 5-inch display with a HD resolution and uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 212 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 304 GPU. It includes an internal storage of 8GB which can be further up to 32GB via microSD card.
Running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, the Nokia 2 comes equipped with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash along with a 5MP front-facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, WI-FI and GPS. A 4100mAh battery completes the package.
Recently, the Nokia 7 plus and Nokia 6 (2018) smartphones in India started receiving the Android 8.1 Oreo update in India which is available via over-the-air. The update for the Nokia 7 Plus weighs 801.4MB and brings in features including battery saving navigation buttons, a new revamped power menu, new Settings menu and a Bluetooth battery percentage.
In terms of features, the Nokia 7 Plus features a 6-inch screen along with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and comes in an aluminum uni-body. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM. It includes an internal storage of 64GB, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
It comes equipped with a dual camera setup. It includes a 12MP rear camera with an f/1.75 aperture along with a 13MP camera with an f/2.6 aperture. It also includes a 16MP front-facing camera along with an f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0 and a 3.5mm audio jack. A 3800mAh battery completes the package.
On the other hand, the Nokia 6 (2018) update will weigh 590.2MB and brings in the same features as sported in the Nokia 7 Plus, such as battery saving navigation buttons, a new revamped power menu, new Settings menu and a Bluetooth battery percentage.
In terms of specifications, the device features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a full-HD display with a 1080x1920 pixels resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It will include an internal storage of 64GB, and is upgradable via a microSD card slot up to 128GB.
The smartphone comes equipped with a 16MP rear camera with autofocus, f/2.0 aperture and a dual-tone LED flash. It also includes an 8MP front-facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v5, GPS/ A-GPS and USB Type-C. A 3,000mAh battery completes the package.
